BROOKLYN, New York — September 1st, 2016 - Mrs. Penelope Beckles-Robinson, former PNM Senator and recently installed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and TT's Permanent Representative to the UN, was present at this year’s well attended "Custom Boys International" party to celebrate with nationals and friends, TT's 54th Independence.
After the National Anthem was played by pannist Curt Bansfield of Pan Fantastic Enterprise, Mrs. Beckles-Robinson delivered a brief address. Her words on the importance of Independence and the unity of TT's diverse population were well received. Following the formalities, the party got underway with entertainment provided by Pan Fantastic, DJ Foreign Base, and Heated Bench Warmers. The infectious music brought everyone to the floor including Mrs. Beckles-Robinson.
"Customs Boys" is an annual affair with the 2016 edition successfully hosted by Mr. Faria Hendricks a former Trinidad and Tobago customs officer. As exhausted but happy partygoers left the BK Pacific, the Indoor and Outdoor Entertainment Center in Brooklyn, at 3:00am next morning, they were able to purchase from Aunty Wendy's Catering a delightful "trini" breakfast of bake and shark and pholourie.
